Moving On!

This is a special note of thanks to a gentleman that I do not know.  Mr. John Spivey of Grapevine, formerly a resident of NRH, sent a letter to the editor of Local News Only that was published by LNO on 3/17/05.  While we have no "Libertarian" candidates running for any office in NRH, I personally share the issues addressed in Mr. Spivey's letter.  His comments could equally be applied to the heavy handed dealing by NRH with local small businesses - some of which are also considering "moving on".

Most of us do not have the option of seeking better treatment from our local governments by moving.  For those of us who have to remain, we have two choices,

            1) acquiesce to unreasonably oppressive and controlling closed city government or,

            2) choose to try to elect people who will stand up for citizen and business rights and open our government to citizen participation.

To quote the final line from Mr. Spivey's letter:  "Protecting one's property, paying less taxes and expecting citizens to be held accountable for their freedom isn't such a radical idea!"   I agree!

Mr. Spivey's short letter is worth reading.
