Incumbents Feeling Sorry for Themselves?

        by Ron West

In a "column" apparently written by the spokesman for the incumbents but submitted by his neighbor,  the incumbents are crying about the placement of political signs by the challengers that they think obscures the viewing of their signs that are 4 times larger.  This is what they identify as an ethics question.  Too bad they don't apply ethics to themselves and the city attorney's contract that is costing all of us money.

The spokesman then goes on to complain about the placement of signs on Davis Blvd.  Apparently, the laws are enforced differently in NRH for local elections versus the Presidential election.  Wonder if this enforcement is triggered by the friendship of our Mayor and certain TXDOT employees?  We will find out more about this with open records requests after the election is over.

Their next "complaint" relates to me helping Its Your Floor defend themselves against what I believe to be illegal enforcement of an illegal sign ordinance.  As it now stands, the city is planning to prosecute this company for painting a blank sign in front of their business.  If Its Your Floor loses the case in late May, they will be fined $1500 plus required to paint out their sign to the previous blank state that the city prefers.  The owner of that business is a supporter of the efforts to replace existing incumbents with people who are reasonable and will work with existing businesses rather than run over them.  As to his contribution to our efforts, maybe they should be focusing their attention on contributions they received from Keller residents who are developers in NRH?

Truth not withstanding, their next crying fit is the false claim that citizens who have their signs up have been harassed for having them.  It would be nice to have at least one single example of this wouldn't it.  Since they have such insight about this perhaps they can help us find out who is removing challenger signs all over the city?  Wonder who owns that silver truck that was reported picking up signs on Davis Blvd.?

Their ghost column then ends with asking you to protect your city values.   I sure hope that open government, honest citizens and responsive council members are your values over the slander, misinformation and lies that seem to be the keynote of the incumbents platform.  We have endured the incumbents "values" which exclude citizens from our local government for the past 12 years due to our own apathy.  I hope we are awake and aware of the opportunity to regain control of our city government and return it to the citizens.

The incumbents continue to allege that the challengers are "negative" but if you read what the challengers are saying and what is written on this website, you will find that the challengers are fighting for very positive changes for our city.  Those changes include you having the opportunity to oversee and contribute to what the city is doing with your money.   The challengers simply want what other cities like Grapevine already have - responsive, considerate, open government.   The really negative, nasty stuff is coming from the incumbents spokesman and their website.  Simply read for yourself and compare the tone, content and intent!

The challengers, Suzette Christopher, Maury Siskel, John Martin and Kerry West are responsible honest citizens who want to serve you.  A vote for these folks is a vote for your own future.
