NRH Business UN-Friendly!

The NRH City Council Majority Opinion of Beauty!

by Ron West

This business in North Richland Hills dared to test the illegal sign ordinance and lost.  The business owner paid a fine in the hundreds of dollars to the city for painting the blank sign with his business name without the permission of the city bureaucrats.  Faced with the threat of daily fines from the business unfriendly code enforcement office, the owner had no choice but to return the sign to the blank face you see on the right above.  The city's illegal sign ordinance has no provision to force the removal of the physical sign unless they comply with state law and offer compensation for requiring removal.

Now all citizens must pass by this business knowing that blank signs are considered more beautiful by the council majority than signs that are used to identify businesses located in our city.  The message from Trevino & company is that NRH is a very business UN-friendly city.  It is little wonder that our business tax base is declining under Trevino's administration.

Why would any business want to locate in NRH with the knowledge that only tombstone signs would be allowed to identify their business along with many other obnoxious and dictatorial ordinances designed to dictate even the smallest details of landscaping and construction.

Since all of the recently elected incumbents knowingly violated this same ordinance on election day, I truly wonder why they think they have the right to dictate such an obnoxious ordinance to business in NRH.  I guess only elected officials are allowed to violate their own laws with impunity.
